Malton Monthly market - Meets the Malteser Brownie & they loved it !

Saturday, 14th August, Scrumptious by Lucy had a stall at the Malton Monthly market which is held on the 2nd Saturday of each month on the market place at Malton which for those who are not familiar with the area, is a lovely Yorkshire market town midway along the A64 between York and Pickering along the road to Scarborough and the beautiful Yorkshire coast.

Malton has been described as "the food capital of Yorkshire", and was voted one of the best places to live in Britain by The Sunday Times in both the 2017 and 2018 lists

We arrived for 7.30am and were immediately struck with how lovely Malton is, a really nice quaint Yorkshire market town, it is only small with a population of around 14,000, but huge in character, the market is held on the central market place under the shadow of the beautiful old church of St Michaels.

Malton is so well laid out and a real foodies paradise, there are lots of chic little cafes and shops, it has such a lively feel to it, yet steeped in history from its 1st century beginnings.

The organising committee for the market were extremely friendly and professional and showed us to our pitch where we unloaded our chilled brownies and blondies, the weather was around 19c but we took all our chiller boxes and ice packs to keep the brownies at the best temperature

Today was the first market outing for my new Malteser brownie, with all its gooey layers of malty chocolate, malteser pieces and horlicks, blended into the ultimate chocolate lovers dream, we didn't want it to melt.

Likewise the home made zingy lemon curd baked into and drizzled across the top of my lemon drizzle blondie likes to be just at the right temperature, not too warm, not too cold

Once I had unpacked and put everything in its right place, I think the stall looked lovely, especially with the glorious sunshine

I took quite a range of brownies and blondies with me, including my Signature chocolate brownie, the rising star of the Malteser brownies, Nutella with its lovely chocolaty and gooey texture, the gorgeous soft and smooth Oreo, the Lotus blondie, my zingy Lemon drizzle blondie, the Raspberry ripple, a beautiful combination of Raspberries and white chocolate, together with Peanut Butter brownie, my Terry's chocolate orange and a couple more.

Malton monthly food market is open between 9am and 3pm, on the second Saturday of each month and the town council obviously recognise the importance of the market to the town and allow 2 hours of free parking, which I wish other councils would adopt. also the parking is very nearby, and two hours is ample time to wander the market stalls and have a look around.

I was so pleased to see so many people come out, and business was really good, so good, we sold out of the Malteser brownie, Oreo and Lotus and had very little to take back, so lesson learned for our next visit. I think Malton is well worth a visit, especially good as a stop off place for an hour or two if you are going to the coast, and not far out of York or Pickering, but also good for the monthly food market.

Don't forget, if you are unable to get to the markets, you can always go online to my Sheffield brownies shop, and buy your brownies for UK next day delivery in my purpose made brownie gift boxes which can be delivered to your letterbox, so no waiting around for the postie, also they make a lovely gift for that special occasion, loved one, or just because.

At the end of August, on the bank holiday weekend of the 28th to 30th, we shall be have the lovely Scrumptious by Lucy stall at the huge Five on the Farm festival at Cannons Farm, Yorkshire, this is one of the biggest festivals around and a huge family fun event.

I shall post more details as I get them, but check out their website for everything going on over the Bank Holiday weekend,

Hope to see you there?

Love Lucy
