Who doesn't love brownies !

I am so excited, The Star newspaper in their What's On section, has run another article about me leaving my teaching job to take on Scrumptiousbylucy.com as a full time business.

Thank you so much “The Star” and reporter Sarah Marshall. I have copied the article and added a link to The Star.

"Former Sheffield teacher launches mail order brownie business - and Sheffield people can't get enough of them!"

A Sheffield baker has shared the sweet secret to her success after she left her job as a math's teacher to pursue her mail order brownie business full-time.

Lucy Foley has always had a passion for baking, which started when she was taught how to cook by her mother and grandmother as a little girl.

In 2017, she decided to share that passion with others and set up a baking business called Scrumptious by Lucy, and started selling her deliciously decadent brownies and blondies on market stalls in Sheffield.

The Covid-19 pandemic meant that Lucy’s revenue streams dried up overnight, and the 33-year-old decided to move her business online.

"It was the only option to be able to continue. I thought: ‘why not give it a go’ and it’s been crazy busy ever since. I’m very lucky, I’ve got a very supportive husband and father-in-law, who also created my website,” said Lucy.

Lucy and her husband Tom have two young children, two-year-old Harry and George, 4.

The online success of Scrumptious by Lucy meant it became progressively more difficult to juggle being a mum with baking and working as a math's teacher at Forge Valley School.

Lucy decided to take the plunge, and left her teaching job at Easter to pursue her baking business full time

With a range of brownies in flavours including Kinder Bueno, Peanut butter as well as a lemon drizzle blondie and a Bakewell blondie, Lucy says her bakes provide people with that “little bit of indulgence.”

She also makes vegan and gluten free versions of her most popular products.

Lucy makes everything by hand with high quality ingredients at her home in Sheffield, using commercial-sized ovens in her recently revamped utility room; and the amount of orders she can complete in a day varies from 20 to 50.

She describes herself as a “perfectionist” and as someone who is dedicated to her customers, and these qualities have even led to her baking brownies on Christmas morning and dropping them off to someone who wanted them for that day.
