Peanut Butter Brownie

This was one of my Nan’s favourite brownie of all time, she used to bake them for her brother who absolutely loved peanut butter and could eat it by the jar, and was something of a peanut butter expert after having tried so many different brands. The problem sometimes with peanut butter, is the oils in the peanut can make the brownie too greasy, and that then affects the mixture and makes the brownies soggy, and nobody wants a soggy bottom.

My brownies retain the incredible smell and taste of peanuts and are just firm enough to package into my letterbox brownies gift box, so when I post your brownies, they arrive lovely and fresh, and retain their shape when they are delivered to your letterbox.

I have tried so many brands, you wouldn’t believe, until I found what I think is the perfect and nuttiest peanut butter, and peanut butter really must be nutty, so that it can be called peanut butter. Did you know? In order for a product to be labelled as peanut butter, it must contain at least 90 percent peanuts. The additional 10 percent may include salt, sweeteners and hydrogenated vegetable oils. Both natural and conventional peanut butter fit into this category. However, any product that includes any additional ingredients, the most common of which is palm oil, must instead be labelled as a peanut butter spread.
