Yesterday, Sunday 5th December was the annual Christmas Market in Belper, which has been voted the best High Street, People came out in their thousands to visit what I believe is still one of the best market towns in Derbyshire. We sold so many of our chocolate box brownies, and took orders to send chocolate brownies by post to families and friends across the UK.
Everybody was so very friendly and the event was meticulously planned, well organised and safe, with plenty of marshals and volunteers, ensuring there was plenty of space for everyone.
There was a good diversity of stalls and entertainment, with some lovely Christmas music from a brass band, as well as a group of Morris dancers performing up and down King Street with their sticks and handkerchiefs. Morris dancing goes back over 500 years, and is always a great sight to see.
The brownies and blondies proved so popular, especially the festive brownies of Ferrero Rocher, Terry's chocolate orange and Toblerone, and the top blondies were the Bakewell blondie, the new Gingerbread and the classic Lemon blondie.
I was really happy that our new triple chocolate Brownies in a Bottle proved to be immensely popular and makes a great Secret Santa or stocking filler, and is great for the children.
It is so simple, just add eggs, warmed butter and pour the mixture into a bowl, give it a good stir and pour the mixture into a baking tray and out pop's 8 gorgeous brownies, all the instructions are on the card.
I love the Belper market, and my brownies have always proved to be really popular, so much so, we sold out just as the market closed at 3pm. It was great to see so many people out enjoying themselves and the weather nearly into mid - December was very kind to us.
This year we are only selling the Brownies in a Bottle at the local markets, with the next one at Sharrow Vale on Sunday 12th December,
Sharrow Vale market is closely followed by the final market of 2021 held over the weekend of Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th December.
The Matlock Christmas Market, will be held again in the centre of Matlock on Hall Ley's park, the same location for the recent Matlock Victorian Market, which was held last weekend over three days, it has such a festive atmosphere with all the lovely volunteers and staff who made it such a great event.
The Market was absolutely huge and so very well attended, it was just a shame the weather on Saturday was so wet and rainy, I really did feel sorry for the food traders and fun fair operators outside the large marquees.
The last day for brownie orders online is 10pm on Monday 20th December so that I can get your brownie gifts baked and delivered in the letterbox gift boxes on the 22nd December, just in time for Christmas. Remember if you pop the brownies in a box or Tupperware in the fridge , they will be fresh for at least 7 days.
Scrumptious will then be taking a well earned break from the 22nd December and reopen for another brownie New Year on 6th January 2022
