Yesterday, Sunday 28th November Scrumptious by Lucy went to the first Bakewell Christmas Sparkle market, held in the Bakewell Agricultural centre, and the first customer asked if we could deliver a number of birthday brownies boxes for a birthday that afternoon in Bakewell? What a great start to the day, but I must say the stall looked so good and we really added to the lovely colours and aroma's of the market, from our gorgeous range of gooey and scrumptious chocolate brownies and blondies .
This meant a very early start, so no Sunday morning lie in for us and trying not to wake the boys, The first job was to get all the brownies orders from the weekend ready, to send the chocolate brownies by post first thing on Monday morning.
Last night I baked the brownies and blondies and left them to cool, so this morning was spent finishing off the final baking and decorating the brownies as we knew Santa and his Reindeer were going to be there, and we didn't want to be on the naughty step...
The star of the show was the fruity Bakewell blondie with flavours of brown sugar & vanilla, loaded with white chocolate, juicy fresh raspberries, dried raspberries and a raspberry swirl on top, A perfect blend of almond and raspberry makes this classic our bestseller.
I have always loved the flavour of a Bakewell tart, my Nan Freda’s favourite treat! I have fond memories of her baking dozens of Bakewell’s for us to eat over the weekends. We often could not resist the irresistible aromas wafting from the kitchen and raced to watch them brown in the oven.

Everyone has heard of Terry’s chocolate orange; they have been around since 1932! So, how can you improve an icon, something which has lasted the test of time for so long?
Simple, start with baking the most mouth wateringly tasty, chocolate brownie, loaded with the freshest orange flavours, with added orange zest, and a luxurious orange oil blended within the chocolate brownie mixture and then pop a Terry’s chocolate segment on top. The whole event was so well attended considering the weather as the snow started to fall around 1pm
I am so looking forward to the next Bakewell market, I do love coming to Bakewell, especially when the snow is falling, a band playing, and a lovely choir singing, you cannot get any more Christmassy than this, especially with a glass of mulled wine and a gorgeous brownie or blondie
